Comedian Martin Short to Headline Spotlight 2008

Our SPOTLIGHT 2008 entertainer, MARTIN SHORT, was catapulted into stardom with his appearance on Saturday Night Live and is best remembered for his hilarious role as Franc the wedding planner in Steve Martin's hit movie, Father of the Bride. Short has appeared in a variety of movies (Inner Space, Three Amigos, Mars Attacks Jungle to Jungle and The Big Picture) and has written, produced and starred in a number of highly acclaimed and award-winning comedy television specials (Martin Short’s Concert for the North Americas, I Martin Short, Goes Hollywood, and The Show Formelry Known as The Martin Short Show). A veteran of the theatre in Canada and on Broadway, Short is also a Tony Award wining actor for his work in Little Me, and appeared in The Producers and Fame Becomes Me. Martin Short was awarded the Order of Canada (the Canadian equilvalent to British Knighthood) for his contribution to Canadian culture and was inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame. More about Martin Short.

RHEDA AND JERRY FADER have been loyal members of the Beth Tfiloh family for over 25 years. They have served as supporters and leaders of the synagogue as well as its Sisterhood and Brotherhood. Most recently, they have donated the newly renovated Synagogue Lobby Atrium, which bears their name. In the community, Jerry serves as trustee of McDaniel College, and is a board member of Sinai Hospital. Together, they have also been supporters of Israel Bonds, The Associated, the Weinberg Academy, the Dyslexia Learning Center, and the American Cancer Society.



SPOTLIGHT is Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School’s annual event in support of the school Scholarship Fund and Student Life Activities. SPOTLIGHT 2008 is Co-Chaired by Mindy & Jud Lipowitz, and Judy and Martin Mintz; Larry Plant serves as Sponsorship Chair. Tickets are available at $125, $250, and $500. Premier seats and a pre-event cocktail reception are provided for Sponsorships at the $2,000 level and above.
