BT Faculty Celebrated at CJE’s Educator Recognition Awards

“It is impossible to describe the enormous pride and honor we felt last night when administrators and teachers attended the 2014 Educator Recognition ceremony at the Center for Jewish Education which celebrated educators and education,” exclaims BT Director of Education, Mrs. Zipora Schorr.

“The many Beth Tfiloh teachers who were lauded was a major testimony to the quality of our School, and the quality, dedication, and talent of our teaching staff.”

Special recipient of the prestigious Sam Kahan Distinguished Educator Award, and Grinspoon Award nominee, Morah Elisheva Erlanger — "Morah E" — spoke about her many colleagues and the support she receives each and every day at BT.

“Morah Erlanger is one in a million!” says Mrs. Nina Wand, Lower School Principal. “She is a thoughtful and innovative teacher who cares deeply about her students – how and what they learn! She spends time creating materials and lessons that challenge the children to think and that spark their interest and curiosity.”

During her acceptance speech, Morah Erlanger made special mention of her own child's teacher, Morah Alicia Broth, winner of the community Early Childhood Excellence Award, and thanked her for her dedication and skill.

“Alicia Broth is an exceptional educator. She strikes the perfect balance of engaging her group while individualizing for each child,” notes Mrs. Melissa Lebowitz, PreSchool Director. “Alicia respects every child and works to meet his or her needs. She inspires thought and responds to their ideas and reflections. Alicia’s professionalism is outstanding and her work ethic is unwavering. We are very fortunate to have Alicia on our team!

Other Beth Tfiloh teachers who received awards as nominees for this year’s Educator Recognition awards include Marci Globerman, Faigie Friedman, Danielle Levin, Rabbi Yehuda Oratz, Giselle Pincever, Oshra Raskas, Gladys Ricklis, Brenda Schuman, Brian Singer, Arleen Wien, Jeri Wilkins, and Flo Ziffer.

The star of the evening undoubtedly was Yoni B. '24, who made a presentation to "his" Morah E. Yoni captured it best, as he thanked Morah E. for making learning fun, and for caring about each and every student.

“How fortunate we all are to know such outstanding educators, and how fortunate our children are to learn from them every day,” shares Mrs. Schorr. “How very blessed I am to be surrounded by such talent and passion!”
